This is really very nice. The perspective really emphasizes the gem and implies a sort of longing feel to the dwarf as he reaches for it. The slight glow on him from the gem is a nice touch. Great work on the fingers and hand, the scaling is perfect and looks very natural as he reaches. The texture of the feathers under his shoulder guards and the scale like pattern on its surface really bring out their colours which match the setting well.
The way his beard only between the metal straps is braided is well done. The texture of his beard, mustache and hair is exceptional the way it all flows together yet is clearly distinguishable from each other as well. His serious expression with the slightly furrowed brow and focused eyes lend a very serious element to the piece that matches the atmosphere nicely.
The texture of the rocks and walls very clearly show precisely what it is, even with the glow from the gem on them. The gem itself works very well as the centerpiece, with its raw and uncut form and the brilliant shading that makes it evident that the glowing is from within, rather than merely reflecting light.
Marvelous piece. You work colours and shading spectacularly to really bring life and feeling to your pictures, and you have excellent skill in proportions.
Hey, thanks for the comment It's not often anyone will bother to write an in-depth comment on a piece, so thank you for taking the time to do so. I did a lot of planning for this so I'm glad to hear you like the results.
